In the Beginning..

EduKitchen began with a simple idea: to turn everyday activities into teachable moments in building life skills. I loved spending time in the kitchen with my children as they grew up.

Hi I’m Danya Khelfa, engineer turned educator for 20 plus years. I’m also a mother and wife. EduKitchen started in 2020 after the global pandemic forced classrooms to stay home.

learning in the kitchen

Our kitchen was the first classrom where I taught them subjects like maths, arts, and English with all the kitchen had to offer. The kitchen helped to develop life skills both inside and outside the traditional classroom.

About EduKitchen

Problem Solving Skills

When kids are tasked with helping out in the kitchen, they’re presented with real-life puzzles to solve. By figuring out how to balance flavors, follow recipe steps, or prepare a meal, kids learn to think logically and flex their problem-solving muscles, which are essential not just in science and math, but in life itself.

Critical Thinking Skills

Measuring out flour, deciding whether a batter needs more liquid, or figuring out why a sauce won’t thicken teaches kids to analyze and make decisions based on observation and reasoning. These are the seeds of critical thinking—and they’re skills that extend far beyond the kitchen.

Organization Skills

In the kitchen, every task—big or small—calls for a bit of planning and structure. From gathering ingredients to following a recipe step-by-step, kids quickly learn that staying organized is the key to success. And these lessons translate beautifully to the classroom, where organization helps kids stay on track with assignments, manage projects, and feel more in control of their learning.

Hands-On Leanring

At EduKitchen, we believe that learning is best when it’s hands-on, meaningful, and inspired by the world around us. By transforming everyday tasks into educational experiences, we aim to show kids that science isn’t just a subject, but a way of thinking, and math is something you can see, feel, and even taste! We encourage curiosity and discovery in a way that’s approachable, practical, and always fun.
